Resources

Library

One of the greatest physical features of FCA is its library.  The library is a separate building in the center of the campus.   It houses over 10,000 works of fiction and nonfiction.  Students in grades 3P through 5th spend 30 minutes in the library each week and are allowed to check out age appropriate books.  The librarian teaches how books are categorized by the Dewey Decimal System.  In the upper grades, the library is the source for research papers and book reports. In July 2012, five desktop computers were added to provide additional computer access.

Computer Lab

In the summer of 2010, Faith Christian Academy received 14 brand new computers with accessories to update our computer program.  AT FCA, each individual class has its own computer for student use, and beginning with 1st grade students have computer class at least once a week.  The school's network system allows work completed in the classroom, lab, or library to be accessed and shared.  Students learn basic computer skills such as keyboarding, and using a free office application called Open Office, students are taught desktop publishing, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation skills.  Internet search and safety are also covered according to age.  When the students reach 6th grade, it is important for them to begin a more advanced level of computer training so they have more time in the computer lab each week.  The lab is also available for teachers to use for their classes to do research and work on assignments, lessons, or view educational videos.

Soon FCA will be implementing a new administrative software called RenWeb.  This new software will help us manage our administrative duties such as attendance and report cards, and maintain student and faculty information.  Over the next two years many other features will be utilized as an adjunct tool to communicate with our families and community.  Each teacher also has an FCA e-mail address which is checked daily (when school is in session).
